"providing the dog world with dog information and dog news" Foundation Breeders Certificate The Designer Breed Registry has adopted a new policy regarding foundation breeders and issuing Foundation Breeders Certificates, this new policy is effective starting March 01, 2009 Breeders will be notified of the DBR Foundation Breeder status by the DBR. Cost of Foundation Breeders Certificate will be $15.00. It is not necessary for a breeder to purchase the certificate but the requirements below must be met by the breeder to be assigned the foundation breeder status. Breeders will be notified by the DBR if they are eligible for this status. The DBR Foundation Breeders status for breeders of newly formed and accepted breeds, rare breeds and registered purebreds who are among the first 50 dogs in that breed in each foundation breeder class. The Designer Breed Registry will assign DBR Foundation Breeder status to a breeder if any of the following criteria 1 thru 4 are met: Both parents must be registered with the Designer Breed Registry/DBR or apply for registration with the DBR. 1- Both sire and dam registered with the AKC, UKC or CKC. One parent can be registered to one registry the other parent registered to another registry. Full or Limited Registration. For data base and future pedigree service a three generation pedigree must also be included. Certificate shows the DBR seal will be embossed in the lower right hand corner. Certificate will include in the text area that the breeder is a “Foundation Breeder Class A” 2- Have 1 parent who is registered with the AKC, UKC or CKC. Full or Limited Registration. For data base and future pedigree service a three generation pedigree must also be included. The other parent must include with the application for individual registration a picture of: Head-side and front view Body-side view Certificate will show the DBR seal will be embossed in the lower right hand corner. Certificate will include in the text area that the breeder is a “Foundation Breeder Class B” 3- If your dog is registered thru another registry that is not DBR/AKC/UKC/CKC, a 3 generation pedigree on at least one parent of the litter. The other parent who may not be registered must submit their application for registration with the following pictures of the dog Head- side and front Body- side view only Certificate will show the DBR seal will be embossed in the lower right hand corner. Certificate will include in the text area that the breeder is a “Foundation Breeder Class C “ 4- If both parents are from registered dogs but not registered themselves a three generation pedigree would be required. A picture of each dog is also required showing the following: Head- side and front view Body- side view. Certificate will show the DBR seal will be embossed in the lower right hand corner. Certificate will include in the text area that the breeder is a “Foundation Breeder Class G” Foundation breeders are limited to 50 breeders in each of the A,B,C, and G class of each designer breed who meet the above criteria.
