About me;

I have been working with dogs for over 20 years now, I
had my first Bandogge Mastiff litter in 1995 between a
Bandogge Female and a Rottweiler male. I have had a
few litters since that time and have owned and trained
many more.

We have decided that since each persons idea of a good
dog can differ greatly I wanted to use my own name, I
actually had designed a breed on paper back in 1989 of a
Bandogge type that I refered to as Canadian Blue Blood
Bulldog but never went through with it any further
then drafting a vision, standard and seeing the finished
product in my head.

I find the type of dog I am breeding for today is very
much the same type of dog I visioned back then just
more fine tuned as I have much more knowledge and of
course hands on experience with various breeds from
the past and now as breeds have evolved greatly and
most not for the better.

I have always found my very best workers, and
healthiest have been my Bandogges since they were
products of Hybrid vigor, few thinks its all bs and all
dogs pure and mutts have the same chances of health
issues but common sense and experience shows
otherwise.

I have owned and bred many top Champion dogs
within thier breeds and have always had the desire to
cross them with a quality example or another breed as I
could visualize the outcome as something outstanding
and more vibrant then your average dog. However a
good eye, testing and proper selection on any breeding
dogs is still most important.

We dont have plans to offer alot puppies to the public as
we are very selective and wish to fully test and prove
each breeding prospect more then enough to know
exactly what each dog has to offer if its going to be bred.
The real purpose of this site it to show case this type of
dog and the dogs I own, produced and love.
Origin: The Canadian Bull Mastiff was developed in Ontario, Canada primarly as a
personal and family protection dog. The idea was birthed in the late 80's on paperwork
first and the original name then was Canadian blue blood bulldogge over the years the
name changed a few time until Canadian Bull Mastiff was finally agreed upon. Some of
the eariler names used were Zearro Mastiff ( 1994-1996 ), Italian Bulldogge ( 2000-2003 )
and inbetween each name Bandogge Mastiff was used. The only reason we decided to not
continue using Bandogge Mastiff was due to the pitbull bylaws, and so many people not
having a real understanding about what is a bandogge/bandog, so we again have gone
back to using our own name.
The Canadian Bull Mastiff was selected as the dogs have always been bull and mastiff
types dogs used in just about every single breeding or within every dogs bloodlines. We
felt that since its a vision of a few dedicated Canadians why not give credit as Canada
has developed some great working dogs through its history but nothing known for its
protective abilities.
The Canadian Bull Mastiff is a highly adaptable dog, it not known for being anxious
and always on the go like many working breeds however the Canadian Bull Mastiff can
cover large areas and long distances with ease due to the body style of the desired type
written within the standard. The breed can live deep within the country side and will
keep at bay any intruders 2 and 4 legged, they also will do very well within city limits as
long as they are given suitable exercise. The Canadian Bull Mastiff has a strong
attachment to its family and rarely ever is found wondering, stubborness is a trait that is
common to many of the breeds within the working world and the breeds development
however its always been selected against, the Canadian Bull Mastiff must always have
that willing to go as far as the owner wants at any cost attitude. This also comes from
proper training, bonding and genetics.
The Canadian Bull Mastiff is excellent with kids and eldery it seems to have an instinct
that they pose no real threat and is often more gentle and will rover over to allow
children to rub the belly, no offense is taken when kids lean on the dog or ask the dog to
follow their direction with commands.
General Appearance: Well muscled body in fact the dogs should have more muscle then
most dogs its size, intense expression that gives the impression of being watchful and
intelligent. Heavy boned, large in size but without extra weight like many bull and
mastiff types. The presence of the Canadian Bull Mastiff often is enough for most would
be intruders as the dogs appearance gives the impression of great strenght and
confidence. The breed is very easy to live with as they are quiet, minimal shedding.
Temperament: Strong with pronounced courage, not dominant with owner or family
can be dominant with other dogs unless properly trained. Gentle and tolerant of kind
children, they seem as if they know they are non threatening. Moderate to high prey
drive with a strong natural defense drive, if it could be put in a ratio form it would be
60% defense and 40% prey. The breed is not being selected for sport type work so a
natural defense is more desired over high prey drive. The Canadian Bull Mastiff has very
pronounced fight drive this is a strong trait coming from bulldogge influence and highly
desired.
Head: Large and well muscled with very strong jaws a scissor bite or reverse scissor (
slight  underbite ) is desired. The length of the muzzle is prefered at 1/3 the overall length
of the skull, the muzzle should appear wide and deep. The expression is very important
all dogs should have an intense stare and not be to bulldoggy in expression. The eyes
should be placed wide set on the skull in any color, lighter shades are perfered as it gives
a stronger expression. However cosmetic flaws should never be placed ahead of health,
temperment or ability. The ears should be of medium size and carried full drop or rose,
cropping is also acceptable.
Body: The dog should appear slightly longer then it is tall, the topline should be strong
and well muscled. The rib cage should not be narrow or to barrel shaped but more
naturally oval and not reaching past the elbow in dept. The rear is well muscled, strong
with good angualtion. The dogs rear end is very important weak rears should never be
excepted. The front should be straight without turning out nor in, front and rear
should be well muscled with strong thick bone. The Canadian Bull Mastiff should
appear heavier in appearance then it is on a scale due to the fact that the dog has alot of
bone mass and muscle mass but very little extra weight like the english bullmastiff or
many other mastiff types. Tail is docked at approx. 1/3 its overall length. The coat is
short tight fitting and any color, color has very little importance and more of personal
preferance.
Size:80-120lbs in weight, 24-28 inches in height. However quality examples over or
under this size should not be frowned upon.
Movement: The movement of the Canadian Bull Mastiff should be effortless, when a
novice to the breed watches they should be impressed with the dogs speed, agility and
ability to jump high for its size.
